The Lady Cavaliers saw success on the road against Moraine Valley Community College Saturday afternoon.
After leading 35-26 in the first half, the Lady Cavaliers held on when the Cyclones tied the game 40-40 halfway through the third quarter. Sophomore Amaria Pender scored four points, and Jazmyn Smith added two free throws before the Cyclones sank a three-pointer to put the Cavs ahead 46-43. KCC’s Brianna Sneed and Aniyah Moody each scored in response to MVCC’s next five points. The Cavs were up 50-48 at the end of the third quarter.
After a back-and forth fourth quarter, Pender sank a last-minute free throw to secure the Lady Cavs’ impressive 64-63 victory.
Pender led the Lady Cavs (17 points) Other scorers: Jasmine Ferrero (10 points), Myllena Lima De Sousa (10 points), Dagg (9 points), Moody (6 points), Kayla Jackson (6 points), Taylor (4 points) and (2 points).
The Lady Cavs will next host Governors State University JV Thursday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
