The KCC softball team opened up their season in Burlington, IA on Saturday. In their opening game, they played a strong Des Moines Area team and came up short, losing 9-5. Despite the loss, Estelle Audette had a standout performance for KCC, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and three stolen bases. Tori Budde also had a strong showing at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
The Lady Cavs offense left eight runners on base. They did manage to hit three doubles, with Estelle Audette, Sophia Hulsey, and Kaitlyn Marks all contributing to that total.
On the mound, Kaitlynn Heale took the loss for KCC, giving up six runs (all earned) on eight hits and five walks over 2.1 innings pitched. Koralie Morin and Kaitlyn Marks also saw time on the mound for the Lady Cavs, combining to give up three runs (all earned) on five hits and four walks over 3.2 innings pitched.
