Lady Cavs’ Postseason Run Ends Against Rock Valley
ROCKFORD, Ill. — May 2, 2026 — Kankakee Community College's postseason run came to an end Saturday with an 11-2 loss to Rock Valley College in the Region 4 tournament.
The Lady Cavs entered the game after an emotional 5-4 walk-off win over Moraine Valley earlier in the day, but Rock Valley jumped out quickly and put KCC in an early hole. The Golden Eagles scored nine runs in the first inning and added one run in the second to take control.
KCC continued to battle and broke through in the fourth inning. Addison Whitaker and Savanna Trivett reached base and came around to score when Adelynn Lubben delivered a two-run hit, cutting into the Rock Valley lead.
Lubben drove in both runs for the Lady Cavs, finishing 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Brittyn Bailey and Hope McLeod each added hits for KCC, while Whitaker, Trivett, Kayna Nelson, and Grace Guenthner each reached base with walks. Whitaker also added a stolen base.
Rock Valley was led offensively by Nyah Allen, who finished with three hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in three runs. Ella Dannhorn added a home run, while Sienna Stingley drove in two runs for the Golden Eagles.
Madison James and McLeod both saw time in the circle for KCC. James worked 3.2 innings, while McLeod also threw in relief as the Lady Cavs tried to slow Rock Valley's early momentum.
The loss closed KCC's Region 4 tournament run after the Lady Cavs picked up two postseason wins over Moraine Valley. KCC opened the tournament with a 5-2 win, then stayed alive with a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory before falling to Rock Valley.
While the final game did not go the Lady Cavs' way, the postseason showed the team's toughness and ability to respond under pressure. KCC battled through the bracket, earned two Region 4 tournament wins, and closed the season with a strong postseason effort.
