Lady Cavs Walk Off Moraine Valley to Stay Alive in Region Tournament
ROCKFORD, Ill. — May 2, 2026 — Kankakee Community College kept its postseason run alive Saturday with a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over Moraine Valley Community College in the Region 4 tournament.
The Lady Cavs built an early lead, answered late pressure from Moraine Valley, and came through in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.
KCC struck first in the third inning with two runs to take a 2-0 lead. After Moraine Valley cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth and tied the game in the fifth, the Lady Cavs responded in the sixth with two runs to move back in front, 4-2.
Moraine Valley answered again in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs to tie the game at 4-4. KCC did not let the momentum shift for long, pushing across the winning run in the bottom half to earn the walk-off victory.
Brittyn Bailey led the Lady Cavs offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Emma Powers added a double and an RBI, while Addison Whitaker went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
KCC finished with 11 hits as a team. Anna Stokes, Hope McLeod, Savanna Trivett, Adelynn Lubben, and Alexa Gliva each added hits for the Lady Cavs. Ann Sawyer also drove in a key run with a sacrifice fly, while Gliva, Lubben, and Bailey each stole a base.
In the circle, Bracie Jackson started and gave KCC four strong innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk. McLeod worked the final three innings and helped the Lady Cavs finish off the victory.
The win gave KCC another postseason victory over Moraine Valley and kept the Lady Cavs alive in the Region 4 tournament.
