Bio

Brooks McDowell leads strength and conditioning for KCC’s athletes with an emphasis on injury prevention, rehab, and long-term athletic growth. Along with a core mission to shape strong minds, strong bodies, and even stronger teams, McDowel brings more than a decade of coaching insight and educational leadership to the Cavaliers.

Previously, McDowell worked at the Kankakee Baseball Ranch, where he developed and rehabbed high-level rotational throwers from youth through college age. His collaboration and advanced training covered the latest in movement science and biomechanics under experts like Dr. Ismael Gallo, Zach Dechant and Conor Harris.

McDowell also has coaching experience in baseball and girls basketball at O’Fallon Township High School and Pontiac Junior High. He earned honors such as the 2018 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year and 2020 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. McDowell played baseball for one season at College of Lake County and three seasons at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. At CLC, McDowell was SkyWay Conference Player of the Year and NJCAA Div II honorable mention All-American.

McDowell and his wife, Chelsea, live in Kankakee. They have two boys, Graham and Vaughn.
